Introduction
The elective E-business concepts builds on insight obtained in other courses, especially Marketing, hereunder electronic marketing. In E-business concepts we will focus on the understanding of the Internet as information and in particular sales or distribution platform. During this course students will obtain knowledge within the areas of e-commerce, e-communication, e-marketing, e-technology and e-design.

Learning outcomes
A. Knowledge
The objective in this course is that student has knowledge about:
E-business and e-Branding and its background in relation to the leisure industries
The Internet as an information distributions platform
The Internet as an information channel
Theory and practice within international e-business, e-design, digital advertising and intercultural communication
How operators in the leisure industry are using the Internet as a sales channel
How tour operators and online agents act in the European online travel market
B. Skills
The objective in this course is that student has the skills to:
Understand the development of the e-business and its importance to the leisure industry
Analyse the strategic importance and potential use of e-business concepts
Analyse how the Internet functions as a sales/distribution channel for airlines, hotel, tour operator and travel agents
Understand job functions within e-business and digital communication
C. Competences
The objective in this course is that student is competent to:
Gather and analyse information on e-business and other digital communication in local and international markets
Analyse appropriate channels for marketing and distribution via the Internet
Devise strategies for appropriate use of the Internet as a sales and distribution channel
Prerequisite
It is assumed that students have successfully completed all first year examinations.
