In recent years, these relations have gained increased attention in both the media and in scientific communities. The reasons for this include the rising significance of social media – short-circuiting knowledge monopolies of traditional stakeholders – the increased politicisation of the professions and, especially, political contestation of the underlying motives of both news and science: Never has truth so commonly been questioned, and never has the common pursuit of truth been more important.
