The goal of the European Conference on Reflective Practice-based Learning (RPL) is to bring together educators, researchers and practitioners to explore, challenge and develop current practices of RPL in professional practice and higher education. Working in and educating for an ever-changing society and labour market requires an approach to learning and a pedagogy that emphasises reflection as a key competence for students and professionals.

Reflective Practice-based Learning is a recent contribution to the educational field, drawing on the theoretical legacy of e.g. Dewey, Kolb and Schön, thus emphasising experience, thinking and action as key concepts underpinning Reflective Practice-based Learning. RPL offers itself as an understanding of teaching and learning with an inherent pedagogy promoting reflection. RPL is particularly eligible for professional practice and education, thus suggesting an approach to the ever-relevant relationship between theory and practice. RPL is described in greater detail in the White Paper on Reflective Practice-based Learning.

The conference invites contributions regarding RPL in professional practice, in higher education and in the intersection between the two. The focus of the conference is research and practice that addresses aspects such as transformative learning, lifelong learning, professional decision-making, and pedagogy, including cases and examples highlighting e.g. digital technologies, collaboration, design patterns, signature pedagogy and feedback.
