Beskrivelse
Early childhood is full of movement. Thinking of movement as physical activities primarily will hardly facilitate comprehension of the ways in which movement underlies and shapes the life of children. Focusing on the lived body is helpful when we aim at broadening the scope on early childhood movement practices. In the presentation we will focus on 1) the variety of movement practices within early childhood contexts and their existentially meaning. More specifically we will elaborate on the various levels of movement that characterize core phenomena within children’s life such as play, learning, and joy, and thus consider these as ongoing, embodied, situated and intersubjective processes happening in the world – not just in the minds of children. In addition, we will discuss 2) some implications this way of considering movement may have on practices within day care institutions, and 3) how it is possible to capture and grasp these lived aspects of movement practices in early childhood.
