Beskrivelse

In many countries, social pedagogical practice isincreasingly expected to be evidence-based. This presentationfocuses on how social pedagogues describe and explainwhathappens in situations, where social pedagogues deviatefrom an evidence-based manual. We will draw on Lotte’srecent research with social pedagogues using AggressionReplacement Training and their reasons for deviatingfrom the manual they are meant to follow. Her researchsuggests that social pedagogues use, what we wouldcall everydaylanguage, when they describe and explain their practice, both the parts that can be seen as evidence basedand the parts where they deviate, for instance whenthey explainhow they respond to their gut feeling. In this presentationwe argue that the social pedagogical language shouldconsist of both the everyday language and of a moretheoretical informed language.
