The CPSSE network connect researchers with interests in Cultural, Political and Social perspectives on Science Education.The aim with the CPSSE network is to strengthen existing research as well as start-up new research. The network is a way to meet and exchange ideas and experiences. The network is expected to work both as a platform for writing common applications as well as for writing scientific papers. Internationally established researchers will also be invited to network meetings. Therefore it will both work as a Nordic community and a platform for international exchange.For a long time the research field of science education has been characterized by an interest for students’ development of scientific concepts and attitudes to science. However, during the last years several researchers have focused cultural, social and political perspectives on science education. Focus has been e.g. on who can identify him/herself with school science and how gender, social class and ethnicity become manifested in the science classroom. Focus can also be on how cultural norms and political ideologies characterize and govern school science. Nordic researchers interested in cultural, social and political issues concerning science education are spread on several different universities. The CPSSE network is a way to connect educational researchers interested in those perspectives.
