🔍 Professional Learning Networks (PLNs) as Collaborative Learning Practices

Yesterday, Karina Kiær and I met with Cindy Poortman who is renowned for her work on Professional Learning Networks (PLNs). We especially discussed what it means to actually organize in collaborative groups for learning such as professional learning communities or professional learning networks. Our takeaways from our conversation is that important constructive questions to ask, are:

✅ How do we ensure that we collaborate professionally with the aim to learn and not just for the sake of collaboration?
✅ How do we ensure that there is a real focus on student learning in the PLC/PLN?
✅ How do we create shared vision and goals to make sure that we aim for the same?
✅ How do we foster collaboration that leads to real and lasting impact after projects or interventions ends?

This requires that we ensure that artificially created boundaries are crossed, so that we move towards creating meaningful connections and collaborations. This also entails bringing leadership closer to the collaborative practices of the PLCs/PLNs.

Thank you for the many interesting talks we have had, and we look forward to speaking a lot more in the future! 🚀 🌱
