🌍 Empowering Teachers Through Professionalization & Collaboration 🎓

Today Tina Maria Brinks and I had another interesting conversation with Programme Director of Teacher Training, Mark Timmer at ELAN University of Twente (https://lnkd.in/d_3pk9Bm).

His work focuses on advancing education in chemistry, design, mathematics, and computer science through innovative teaching methodologies. His work involves developing tech bachelor and master’s programs for secondary schools, emphasizing didactics, classroom management, and teaching materials design.

Building a Community of Learners
Mark leads initiatives that bring teachers together across disciplines like physics, chemistry, and biology, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. ELAN support professional learning networks (PLNs) that explore topics like storytelling in classrooms, ethics, and STEM education.

Strengthening School Partnerships
ELAN collaborate with 5-7 schools and universities, focusing on teacher professionalization, internships, and coaching. Early-career teachers receive structured induction programs during their first three years, ensuring continuous growth.

Driving National Teacher Professionalization
Through the NAPT initiative, they advocate for making teacher professionalization mandatory, opening career advancement opportunities for educators. ELAN facilitate STEM workshops, lesson observations, and hands-on training for teachers in and outside the classroom. hashtag#stem

Innovative Approaches to Teacher Professional Development
