Kristendomskundskab is not a direct reflection of its science subjects, as the subject - like other school subjects - is embedded in a political, societal, cultural and not least pedagogical-didactic context. The English linguist and sociologist of education Basil Bernstein (1924-2000) clarifies this theme with the concept of recontextualisation. The presentation is based on classroom research at three different Danish primary schools in kristendomskundskab and the knowledge production about religion that takes place. How is knowledge about religion constructed, and what impact does knowledge production have on pupils' participation opportunities? What opportunities and barriers to powerful knowledge are present in this classroom? These are some of the questions the presentation will touch on.
