“People who menstruate. I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?” These are the wiTy sugges1ons that J.K. Rowling came up with in her tweet, to communicate her convic1on: women are being erased. An organisa1on used an expression that might include younger girls and transgender men in said popula1on, and now a wide spectrum of opinion-formers and power exercisers (including Vladimir Pu1n) seems firm in their belief that Rowling was right. A signifier is missing, and actors from the liberal led to the most conserva1ve right have lined up to partake in this cap1va1ng dreamscape, in which the figure that Jacques Lacan proclaimed does not exist, is merely under aTack. Psychoanalysis should interrogate, not allow these perverts to con1nue their dreaming. As Zupančič noted, "The most oppressive socie1es have always been those which axioma1cally proclaimed the existence of the sexual rela1on.”
