Beskrivelse
The Nordic courtiers and especially Denmark are frontrunners in the use of no-sedation protocols,
resulting in an increased number of patients who are conscious during their intensive care unit (ICU)
stay. This means that clinical nursing practice experience an increase in patients with cognitive
complications in the ICU. Also, cognitive impairments are a frequently unrecognized complication
post-ICU. It remains unclear when patients are susceptible to cognitive rehabilitation and the role of
the relatives. Furthermore, evidence on how a cognitive rehabilitation programme should be
designed and delivered is sparse.
