Beskrivelse
The PhD project addresses a research gap from a media production analysis perspective (Novrup Redvall & Bruun, 2022). Starting from the assumption that journalistic production and distribution in the digital era represent what Kammer (2023) calls “spaces for datafication” with journalists and editors having “vast amounts of audience data at their disposal” (p. 136), the project poses the research question: How do Danish deep dive news podcasts from
different types of news organisations attempt to engage their audiences?
The main research question is divided into three sub questions.
1. What are the key engagement practices of deep dive news podcast production
processes across newsrooms with different resources?
2. To what extent do difference in newsroom resources correlate with measurable differences in deep dive news podcast output?
3. How do journalists and editors of deep dive news podcasts interpret and make use of audience data (e.g. by using data to inform how to tell compelling stories)?
