REHAB – A Better Life with ADHD: A feasibility study

This study entails the development, implementation and process evaluation of a cross-sectoral model of collaboration
targeted children and adolescents referred to assessment for ADHD. REHAB is a goal-oriented model of collaboration
ensuring autonomy for the individual and collaboration across sectors. It differentiates from standard care by adding
additional cross-sectoral network meetings and individual goalsetting.
ADHD is the most prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder in children worldwide subsequently leading to impairment on
an individual as well as societal level. It is well documented that patients and their families affected, feel stuck between
sectors. REHAB is developed to overcome this barrier and to ensure a coordinated path through systems.
This study entails a process evaluation of model implementation and integration, and trial feasibility. This design enables
understanding of model acceptance, adaption of REHAB and effect estimation through a “pilot” clinical study with
outcome measures: Weiss functional impairment scale (WFIRS), Quality of life (Kidscreen) and ADHD-RS.
Data are being collected through qualitative semi-structured interviews with professionals from primary and secondary
sector, as well as patients and their families. Analysis will follow the framework method with a pragmatic abductive
approach. Second, PRO-ratings will be assessed by pre/post assessment to investigate if the REHAB model can
quantify change and to what extent. An overall study outline and preliminary results from the qualitative evaluation will be
presented.
We aim to achieve a higher quality of life and a decrease in ADHD symptoms for the affected patient. Further, we aim to
improve workflows and information transfer between sectors.

Dette studie undersøger en ny samarbejdsmodel kaldet REHAB, som skal hjælpe børn og unge, der udredes for ADHD. Modellen adskiller sig fra den sædvanlige behandling ved at samle skole, sundhedsvæsen og familie omkring barnet i fælles møder og ved at opstille individuelle mål for indsatsen.

ADHD er den mest udbredte udviklingsforstyrrelse hos børn og kan skabe store udfordringer både for barnet, familien og samfundet. Mange oplever, at de “falder mellem to stole” i systemet, og REHAB er udviklet for at skabe en mere sammenhængende indsats på tværs af sektorer.

Studiet tester, hvordan modellen fungerer i praksis, om den kan tilpasses og accepteres, og om den har en målbar effekt. Der indsamles data gennem interviews med fagfolk, patienter og familier samt spørgeskemaer om livskvalitet, funktionsevne og ADHD-symptomer.

Målet er at forbedre livskvaliteten for børnene, mindske deres symptomer og samtidig sikre et bedre samarbejde og informationsflow mellem de involverede sektorer.
