Young People Positioned as Marginalized in Hybrid Social Spaces: Participation, Community, and Social Pedagogical Practices in and around Professional Football Clubs

The aim of this project is to generate new knowledge about these young people and their access to communities and opportunities for participation within hybrid social spaces(Brandsen & Karré, 2011), with a particular focus on professional football clubs as arenas. Specifically, the project seeks to explore how social spaces are enacted within these contexts, how they are experienced by young people, and how they contribute to shaping new forms of participation and belonging.
The project is guided by the following research question: How do young people in marginalized positions experience, participate and engage in communities co-created by professional football clubs, civil society and local municipality?
