Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to suggest how a phenomenological
approach to aesthetics and multimodality can contribute to a development
of the fi eld and to a study of its epistemological basis. A core element is to
connect the semiotic modes and resources with sensory modalities and a
phenomenological consciousness and embodiment, thereby expanding the
semiotic studies of multimodality.
