Based on two ethnographic studies in the profession-oriented learning context, the purpose of the presentation is to consider the challenges involved in developing a patient-centered, interprofessional and cross-sectorial study-pathway across health educations. The Ethnographic studies follow the case: ‘InBetween.’ ‘InBetween’ is a collaboration project involving a university hospital, a municipality, a university and a university college. This project is developing a model where teams consisting of students from physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing and medicine undergo clinical education together, following a patient pathway through the healthcare sectors. The two ethnographic studies focus on how students and supervisors develope interprofessional competencies and (inter)professional identities. The methodological approach is described as a mix of ethnographic methods (Hammersley & Atkinson2007, Marcus1995, Borgnakke2013), and the presentation reflects the ethnographic impact of the basic principle of ‘following the field of practice`; sharpening the focus on ´InBetween` as an ongoing case of developing interprofessionalism in practice. The ethnographic framework explores the practical context, and the fieldwork reflects how the healthcare system is undergoing changes and how the cooperation between professionals and patients is challenged in practical sense. When the leaders and teachers from four different health science programmes, as well as the leaders and clinical educators from hospitals and municipalities involved in ‘InBetween’ must synchronously transform political demands to practical planning, one of the major challenges identified in our research is characterized as, “a logistical hell”. The fieldwork identifies an area of such conflict and different ways to deal with the logistical hell.
