Abstract

In these years, the Danish healthcare system is changing. Demographic changes are shaping society. At 2050 approx. 10% of the population in Denmark will be over 80 years old, putting financial pressure on the welfare society and the healthcare that can be provided. Older people will live longer, but the number of years lived in poor health will be the same as today. Now there is an increased focus on municipal healthcare and home nursing.
At the same time new forms of governance have evolved since the modernization of the public sector began in 1983.
The purpose is to analyze how home care nursing has historically been shaped by articulations of home nursing during modernization. This is important to gain insight into the explicit and implicit conditions that underlie home nursing and to address and discuss how this potentially affects the professionalism of home nursing today.
