Abstract
The aim of the project is to illustrate the dynamic between profession and society, using the occupational therapy profession as an example. The project concerns on which elements this dynamic consists of and what their current consequences are. Axel Honneths perspective on recognition are used as theoretical base, Henning Salling Olesen and Nikolas Rose among others elaborate the topic. It is assumed that the professions have an identity crisis and it is concluded that this crisis is multifaceted but mainly three circumstances stands out: The professions standpoint in a biomedical reductionist health system, the impact of the market-orientation and the individualization.
