Abstract

As the European Social Work Research Association (ESWRA) stimulates more and higher quality research across Europe, attention needs to be given to how this research will reach practitioners and be applied in practice. In keeping with the purposes of the Research, Policy and Practice Exchange section of European Social Work Research, this short paper aims to provide a stimulus for readers to engage in current debates about using evidence to guide practice by outlining the foundation of the Evidence into Practice Special Interest Group (EiPSIG). The focus of EiPSIG is on both the use of knowledge by individual social workers and on how organisations employing social workers carry out their responsibilities to inform their staff and bring evidence into use in service delivery.
