How can educators in entrepreneurship education themselves apply an experiential learning perspective into curriculum design and course planning? Hannon (2005) suggested using the notions teaching about, for and through when developing and researching entrepreneurship education (Hannon, 2005). However, other notions and overall understandings may provide us with new understandings that can advance the field taking other elements into the equation, eg. in, after, under, over, beside, during, and meanwhile. (Naia, Baptista, Januário, & Trigo, 2015; Neergaard, Robinson, Tanggaard, & Krueger, 2016; Ramsgaard & Christensen, 2016). The current chapter propose that within research in entrepreneurship education there has been created a limited perspective on learning if only the focus relies on about, for and through. The chapter explores other perspectives with case-examples to illustrate the point of perspective and will explore central topics within experiential learning using lenses of both educator’s and student’s perspectives. Entrepreneurship education and especially experiential learning has long pursued questions of how to apply the pedagogies and didactics in experiential learning into curriculum development and course planning (Krueger, 2007; Pittaway & Cope, 2007b) but a highly overlooked topic has been that of the educator’s own ability to differentiate and experiment with known learning approaches. Point of departure for the chapter will be Jason Cope’s dynamic perspective on experiential learning (Cope & Watts, 2000; Cope, 2003; Cope, 2005; Pittaway & Cope, 2007a; Pittaway & Thorpe, 2012) combined with Hannon (Hannon, 2005; Hannon, 2006) using also lenses of entrepreneurial reflection, identity, and leadership to expand our understanding of experiential learning in entrepreneurship education. Finally the chapter will suggest a dynamic model that can be used for educators designing experiential learning activities that includes an interplay of the explored topics.
