N2 - 1: Research topic/aim
This research project focuses on collaboration and communication between daycare/ school and home. The aim is to develop new forms of meetings, thus the families to a higher degree are invited into appreciative and equal meeting forms.
2: Methodology/research design
The project design is inspired by Design-based research (Barab & Squire, 2009) and Action Research (McNiff & Whitehead, 2006). Through iterative experiments with new ways of meeting we collect and analyze data on how to increase all families opportunities to be an active and equal part.
3: Theoretical framework
There is a lot of literature on how to structure the ‘good’ meeting. (Koldsø, 2019, Socialstyrelsen, (SUS) & COWI/MUUSMANN, 2008, Socialstyrelsen, 2016) However, there is a lack of knowledge on how this common decided framework actual enables families to participate in the collaboration with the professionals and if these structures actually procedure barriers for some families. We are inspired by research focusing on how relation, time and communication between the professionals and the families enables participation (Dawson & Berry, 2002; EVA, 2016; Hart, 1992)
4: Expected results/findings
We expect to develop a broader practice and understanding of how to meet and engage all families in their children’s life and development, in different ways depending on the individual need and resources og the individual family.
5: Relevance to Nordic educational research
Focus on developing and thereby challenging the presumptions of the good meeting and communication with all families seem to have both a national, Nordic and international relevance.
