Abstract
In this article, we construct the social space of well-being based on survey data from 1309 pupils in the fifth, seventh and ninth grade in the Danish elementary school. We aim to uncover the main dimensions in the social space of well-being by using a Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA). The analysis shows that two most important dimensions account for 82.6% of the total variance. The first dimension is divided into categories about accepting body perception and strong social relations on one side and judgmental body perception and weak social relations on the other. The second dimension explains variance in the use of social media in terms of social relations in the classroom and behavioural health capital. Furthermore, our analysis shows that grade level and gender is closely related to how the pupils travel within the social space of well-being and that, surprisingly, social class does not structure the social space.
