abstract = "Companies play a crucial role in achieving a sustainable future. However, navigating the complex task of shifting from a linear to a Circular Economy requires developing or enhancing specific sustainable competence. To do so, more practicality is needed to achieve sustainability in development. This paper proposes a pragmatic framework that operationalises competence for environmental sustainability. The framework is aimed at business and engineering educational programmes, supporting the transition towards environmentally sustainable development in companies. The framework consists of four groups of competences and is instrumental in supporting a shared language and for understanding across disciplines. Moreover, it strengthens cross-disciplinary cooperation and integration within companies, particularly in areas not directly related to environmental sustainability.",
