The interest of this paper is to point out challenges that arise when establishing collaborations between disciplines and practices that use scientific vocabulary differently. Examples serve to illustrate how misunderstandings are likely to occur due to differences in conceptions of singular terms and underlying theoretical frameworks. Furthermore, possible consequences in the context of learning are outlined.
