Abstract

This chapter deals with the future roles, conditions, and skill requirements of academic and research librarians in a digital era. Specifically, we investigate how the role of the profession is changing as society becomes digitized. We conducted a scoping review and personal interviews the being to find possible answers to the following questions: What are the specific skills of the librarian in 2020 in a digital context and how can they be used in the future?
