Abstract
Introduction: The integration of the Fundamentals of Care Framework in educational contexts can be enhanced through e-learning platforms, addressing current gaps in nursing students’ knowledge and accessibility. A strategy of expanding the integration of the Fundamentals of Care Framework through e-learning platforms aligns with evidence supporting the need for diverse learning activities tailored to individual students. Developing a user-friendly and prominently integrated Fundamentals of Care Framework Tutorial on the Microsoft Teams channel aims to foster a commitment to care excellence among nursing students in the Bachelor of Nursing program. The action plan is part of the FoC leadership and mentor program, designed to enhance students’ understanding and use of the Fundamentals of Care Framework in learning activities, thereby supporting their competency development in delivering person-centred care.
Methods: We employed a co-design process involving nursing students, educators, and Fundamentals of Care facilitators at the Department of Nursing, UCN, Denmark.
Results: Key activities included revising and evaluating content e.g., interactive e-learning modules, care scenarios, and other engaging resources in workshops with nursing students and educators, integrating the channel into existing course materials, and boosting online engagement through interactive e-learning modules, case studies, and other resources. We will report the results by tracking students’ use of online resources, including podcasts, videos, Q&A lists, and self-assessment test scores.
Discussion: Reflections on the process including development and implementation plan of a Fundamentals of Care Framework Tutorial in nursing education. Key discussion points will include Challenges; Collaboration; Curriculum Integration; Outcomes and Future Directions
