KAN SLETTES _ The future journalist is looking both inwards and outwards

The future journalist must prepare himself to an unpredictable work life in an increasing complex and fast-changing world. Various authors discuss the challenges in journalism education eg. in “Toward 2020”, but maybe we need also an inner focus. Stress, depression and the search for meaning in life have become important aspects (DM, 2017, ESENER, 2018 ). Likewise inner focus and intrinsic motivation is key in creating a meaningful life and work life (Pinker, 2011) - and also central in the increasing personal branding of journalists (Hanush & Bruns (2016). We suggest to take a broader perspective, combining an inner perspective with an outer, entrepreneurial business perspective.
