Abstract

This article investigates the practicability of transforming tacit knowledge about the body’s non-verbal communication into conscious knowledge. The article
also investigates the dependency of the quality of communication on the intensity of bodily relations. Based on both empirical research carried out at a daycare centre and theoretical studies, the body's symbols and expressions are perationalized, and an analytical model is developed to describe bodily communities. The article presents a model for communicative spaces. The model focuses on the explicit connection between the intensity of bodily relations
and the participants’ non-verbal communication patterns. Finally a nomenclature is presented in order to reflexively describe the bodily modes of expression in communicative spaces.
