    Background and aim:
In mental health, there is a need for methods that go beyond medical treatment. Traditionally there is an understanding in mental health treatment to engage the individual using creative medias, while the use of creative activities within mental health has declined. There is an awareness in the research literature that using creative activities as intervention have positive effect quality of life like an increased self-confidence, coping ability, occupational identity and general recovery and rehabilitation.
The aim of the study is to develop and qualify the value and effects of a traditional intervention method, based on the use of creative activities as arranged activities in a clinical environment in mental health.

    Design and methods:
The project design is as a mixed-methods study with both quantitative and qualitative methods. Action research principles are used as a frame for the study and has in circular processes a learning and development perspective to initiate new insights and knowledge of the practice in which the project takes place. The participating users in the study have active roles as learning co-researchers throughout the different phrases of the study.
The study consists of four sub-studies.

    Results
The preliminary results point out that the use of creative activities is an important method in the rehabilitation processes, strengthening wellbeing and everyday life.

    Conclusions
The study indicates that the use of creative activities in metal health rehabilitation is still warranted. We need to rethink and incorporate creative activities into mental health treatment and rehabilitation.
