Abstract

In this paper we present a new research initiative exploring Distributed and Open Production (DOP). We shortly outline the background for the initative, and present a series of research directions and activitites planned for the near future. Finally we report on the first results related to the design interventions we have carried out both well-established and ad hoc settings highlighting both benefits and potential traps of DOP, showing strengths and weaknesses of such constructions.
