Abstract
The UCN BA-programme in Export and Technology Management educates and qualifies students for various trades and businesses in an ever-changing society. The programme’s stakeholders typically seek graduates who understand the intersectorial links in an industrial context: From product development and production to quality assurance, logistics and supply chain, marketing and communication strategies, out to the customers and back to the production line again. All elements are interconnected and require cooperation. To prepare the graduates for this future labour market, we implemented e-portfolio as a reflection and learning tool. The aim was to give the students a holistic understanding of the professional reality they are about to encounter, both in their internship and later when they graduate. The scaffolding and implementation were made according to the newest research and recommendations in the field.
Nonetheless, the results fell short of the expectations, and the general feedback from the students left us with new understandings of their perception and some adjustments to make. This study investigates the challenges and advantages of implementing e-portfolio as a learning- and reflection tool in an interprofessional generalist education. It will provide valuable insights in understanding students’ perception and motivation towards the pedagogical tools and initiatives they are presented with during their studies.
