Millions of patients suffer injury or death due to unsafe care. A University College Sealand project attempts to improve patient safety by optimizing the theory-practice connection with respect to the development of students’ competencies when reporting clinical errors. A teaching program was developed highlighting the benefits of learning from clinical errors. Effects of the intervention are measured via a longitudinal study. As a result of this project an interdisciplinary e-learning program is being developed. Data from this initiative will be used in future quality assurance projects promoting patient safety.
