    Abstract

This is an attempt at developing a methodology at University College Copenhagen to assist returning students from practicum in the Global South sort and reflect on the many often confusing, challenging and contradictory experiences they encounter during their practicum. Experiences show that students rarely are able to identify what professional competencies they are able to develop from their practicum. The key premise is that many of the experiences are not recognized as professionally relevant because they are difficult to apply directly to a Danish educational context. A core premise for the post-return workshop is that this is because many experiences relate to what has been termed the Hidden Curriculum (Leask 2015) and as such not easily identifiable. However, it is our thesis that it is exactly the encounter with a different hidden curriculum that offers potentials for diversity competences. The presentation will center on the pedagogy and didactics we have attempted to use so far especially encouraging the student to analyze their expereinces abroad within a framework of diversity and difference.
