Description

INCREASING SOUTH BALTIC MOBILITY AND UNDERSTANDING VIA VIRTUAL COMMUNICATION PLATFORMS
IN NURSE EDUCATION
Abstract Content: The EU promotes workforce mobility within member states and the recognition of educational
qualifications in order to match labour market supply and demand needs. COHAB, a South Baltic EU funded project,
focuses upon improving staff and student competencies for cross-border South Baltic mobility. An innovative educational
cooperation using virtual communication systems for parallel teaching sessions, and IT based interactive learning
objects, study visits and an international summer school, is being developed by the nursing departments at The
University of Klaipeda in Lithuania, Gdansk Medical University in Poland and University College Zealand in Denmark.
Project partners hope that this initiative will not only support the development of student and staff professional
competencies, cultural understanding and professional mobility but will also contribute to the development of attractive
student learning environments.
