Organisation profile
We explore, develop, and expand the understanding of professions, professional education, and the connections between them.
The research center focuses on professional studies as a distinct field of research, with the ambition of becoming a national hub for research that generates transformative impacts on contemporary challenges related to professions and professional practice.
Our research and development activities are organized into four programs, each with its own research profile. These are:
- Research Program for Professional Education and Professional Development
- Research Program for Professional Teaching and Guidance
- Research Program for Transformations in Professions and Education
- Research Program for Knowledge and Values in Professional Practice
Collectively, our research addresses the current conditions and challenges of professions and generates knowledge about expertise and value-based practices in professional work, as well as the professional development of students and practitioners in this context. We also explore how education can contribute to this development through teaching, learning and and professional guidance, with the aim of transforming and improving both professional education and practice in anticipation of future societal needs.
Our research is interdisciplinary, drawing on knowledge and methods from various theoretical and methodological fields.
