The Research Center for Musculoskeletal Health and Physical Activity is located at the Physiotherapy Program at UCN. The center’s ambition is to support people’s opportunities for activity, promote better health, and develop and evidence-base health-related activities across the healthcare sector. The research center is anchored within the physiotherapy program.
The center conducts practice-oriented and application-focused research that is relevant to society and the healthcare system, as well as to the research foundation and knowledge base of the physiotherapy program. The research center currently has three research programs:
Musculoskeletal Health
Lifestyle-Related Diseases and Physical Activity
Neurology and Trauma
The research center participates in several national and international research collaborations with regions, municipalities, private healthcare providers, universities, university colleges, and clinical research environments. We emphasize creating an attractive research environment in collaboration with practice—one that fosters innovation and offers a high degree of student involvement.
The physiotherapy program has a 400 m² movement and testing laboratory, which enables us to work with testing, analysis, and examination within biomechanics, movement and activity analysis, cardiovascular and physiological testing, non-invasive sensor technology for monitoring vital tissue parameters, force development and muscle activation, and more.
