Research and development areas

I am a Senior associate Professor at the Research Center for Care and Rehabilitation at VIA, where I lead the research program on Care and Everyday Life.

I am Senior researcher at Center for research in Health and Nursing, Regional Hospital, Central Jutland and Associate professor at Public Health, Aarhus University.

I do research in health and nursing, focusing on nursing interventions and the contribution of nursing within interprofessional and cross-sectoral contexts. Integrative in this, I have a distinct focus on the development of the nursing profession.

My research aims to generate knowledge about what constitutes a good everyday life for individuals and families living with long-term illness. This includes how the organisation of our healthcare system, as well as knowledge sharing and collaboration across disciplines and professions, can support this.

I have particularly focused on individuals living with Parkinson's disease in my research, but I broadly aim to understand how older adults living with chronic conditions can best be supported by nurses and other healthcare professionals to live a good and meaningful everyday life.

Through my research, I emphasise giving patient and caregiver experiences and perspectives a significant voice in the development of a person-centered healthcare system, and stakeholder involvement is generally an integral part of my projects.

My research is predominantly based on qualitative methods, but I also work with intervention studies using appropriate methodologies. I have extensive experience with phenomenological research, which provides in-depth and nuanced knowledge related to everyday life with illness. This knowledge is essential for ensuring quality in care and treatment, tailored to the individual's resources and needs.

Closely related to this, I work extensively to highlight and argue for the ethical and moral dimensions of nursing practice.

I have significant experience engaging nursing students, Ph.D. students, lecturers and senior lecturers in my research group.
