Personal profile

Presentation

I am an educational researcher with a PhD in pedagogy and digital learning processes. My primary research interests are students´ learning strategies with a special focus on digital learning strategies and the corresponding teacher functions in online teaching environments.

My PhD is based on long-term extensive ethnographic fieldwork in an online nursing program. I have examined the development, implementation and handling of online teaching- and learning practices in both organizational -, teachers´ - and students´ perspectives. Following students at home, on campus and in the clinical practice, has brought the students' handling of an online learning practice into focus for my research. The students' development of what I call `Digital learning communities´

is made possible and supported by study strategies related to students´ self-management of the formal learning environment into the informal, a necessary technology acquisition and students´ ability to academically challenge and be challenged by fellow students.

I participate in research projects in Research Center for Pedagogy and Education, The Research Program for Learning and Digital Technologies (VIA) and have participated in Center for Research in Clinical Nursing (VIA). Further, I take active part in the research network Ethnographic studies in Innovative Learning Contexts, University of Copenhagen.

In terms of research, I have particular experience with qualitative methods. I have experience with development and implementation of educational initiatives and innovations.

I teach `Research Methodology´ and `Communication´ in a combination of both online and face-to-face classes in the Nursing education. Further, I am semester responsible for the first 2 years of the Online Nursing education in VIA.
