Personal profile

Presentation

I am an educational researcher with a PhD in pedagogy and digital learning processes. My primary research interests are students´ learning strategies with a special focus on digital learning strategies and the corresponding teacher functions in online teaching environments.

My PhD is based on long-term extensive ethnographic fieldwork in an online nursing program. I have examined the development, implementation and handling of online teaching- and learning practices in both organizational -, teachers´ - and students´ perspectives. Following students at home, on campus and in the clinical practice, has brought the students' handling of an online learning practice into focus for my research. The most significant finding was how the students developed digitalized learning communities.

I participate in research and development projects at the Research Centre for Didactics and Pedagogy, within the Program Learning and IT. Over the years, I have also been involved in and led development projects within the VIA Nursing Education. Since 2024, I have served as an expert in online and blended learning (OBL) in the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s development project, Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP), aimed at nursing education in India and Kenya.

I am also part of the research network Ethnographic Studies in Innovative Learning Contexts at the University of Copenhagen.
My research experience is particularly rooted in qualitative methods.

Teaching

I teach both online and face-to-face in research methodology in the Nursing Education program. I am the coordinator for the first 1½ years of the VIA Nursing Education in Viborg, and also coordinator for the Online Nursing Education program at VIA
