My research focuses on the language dimension in subject-area teaching, second language education, subject specific literacy, students' language development, science education, and academic writing in the teaching profession. A central concern across my work is how students and teacher education students gain access to legitimate forms of knowledge, in schools as well as in higher professional education.
I work primarily with Legitimation Code Theory (LCT) and Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), both as analytical tools for understanding challenges in pedagogical practice and as frameworks for designing scaffolded, language-based teaching at primary, secondary and tertiary academic levels.
Alongside my research, I teach and supervise in the areas of Danish as a second language and multilingual education, primarily in pre-service teacher education.
Work areas
I work in in-service and pre-service teacher training in the areas of second language education, Danish as a second language, bilingual education, language-based teaching and learning.
I currently participate in research and development projects in Science education research, in conjunction with NAFA, and am project lead on development and research project fousing on professional and subject specific writing and literacy in teacher education.
