Anne Louise Bang

Research and development areas

Dr Anne Louise Bang is a Senior Associate Professor in Design & Sustainability at the Centre for Creative Industries & Professions at VIA University College in Denmark. Additionally, she is a Professor II at University of South-Eastern Norway and affiliated to the group Research on Embodied Making and Learning. Bang has a background as a textile designer and weaver. Her research interests are textile design, materials, technology and sustainability.  She has 20+ years of experience in lecturing and extensive research in textile and fashion design. Her research focuses on experiments and development of practice with a special attention to issues of sustainability. She holds a PhD in Design and earned the degree with the project: Emotional Value of Applied Textiles in 2011. A core interest is developing of tools suited for dialogue between diverse groups of people around sensuous and experiential aspects of textiles. This work has continued in several projects, expanding the research expertise to include design and sustainability, e.g., projects on social sustainability, supplier-driven innovation and circular subscription services
