Research and development areas

I am particularly interested in L1 education and its didactics within primary education, as well as in the theoretical and practical implementation of place-based outdoor education. In this context, I have developed and tested the literary teaching method place-based reading, which—grounded in phenomenological and outdoor pedagogical theory—provides a didactic framework for how literature and physical places can interact in teaching. The aim is to foster both place-awareness and text-awareness through an exploratory and world-aware approach to literature education.

In my research, I integrate literary fiction into crosscurricular sustainability education, drawing on a posthumanist theoretical framework. In collaboration with primary school teachers, I investigate and experiment with ways in which scientific questions can be introduced into literary reading, enabling pupils to develop knowledge, hope, and agency in the Anthropocene.
