Research and development areas

I have since 2013 been researching active labour market policies (ALMP) and interventions targeting vulnerable groups in the labour market. Based on qualitative and quantitative methods, my research revolves around how ALMPs are implemented in job centres, how interventions are experienced by the unemployed and how they affect labour market outcomes for different target groups, such as unemployed persons with disabilities and youth not in employment, education, or training (NEET).

In my research, I have mainly focused on examining how employment interventions can be based on a solid knowledge base and, when implemented in practice, provide the most significant benefit to citizens. Critical questions in this regard are: Does it work? What are the costs? How do employees and participants perceive the intervention? Is the intervention implemented with fidelity to the methods? And what are the facilitators and barriers to successful implementation?

I teach employment and active labour market policies at the Department of Social Work at Copenhagen University College. Since 2021, I have been responsible for the Social Work and Employment Research program.

Since August 2024, I have been affiliated with the newly established Centre for Better Children's Life at KP. The centre focuses on profession-oriented and interdisciplinary research on 0-6-year-old children. I am part of the 'Equal Opportunities' programme and will contribute to developing and testing interventions for the benefit of young children and their families.
