Research and development areas

My research focuses on developing learning designs and scaffolding teachers in the integration of digital media and ICT in education

My research delves into the educational application of digital media and ICT in educational settings, with a particular emphasis on developing learning designs and the crucial role of scaffolding teachers during the integration process.

My PhD thesis identified various learning potentials and challenges associated with teachers' incorporation of web 2.0 mediated learning into their teaching practices. The thesis further outlines a collaborative design methodology for crafting learning activities and processes that can assist teachers in their (re-)design of learning experiences.

My research additionally highlights the need for establishing an organizational support unit to scaffold and facilitate teachers in designing and implementing their learning designs. As a "scaffolder," possessing expertise in both pedagogy and technology is paramount, while adhering to the philosophy that "we cannot design learning; we can only design for learning" [Buus, 2016; Dirckinck-Holmfeld & Jones, 2009].

In my work and research, I focus on learning design and strategies for scaffolding teachers throughout the design and integration process. I contribute to the pedagogical and technological design and development of online and blended courses in collaboration with professionals from various domains. I am actively involved in research projects that explore approaches to scaffolding teachers in these processes to gain deeper insights into organizing and constructing learning designs that incorporate teacher scaffolding.

I have extensive experience working with ICT integration and virtual learning environment design in diverse educational contexts (educational institutions, workplaces, etc.), with a focus on the educational and organizational opportunities and challenges encountered.

I have led and participated in numerous development projects, encompassing internal, national, international, and EU projects within my field of research. I hold certification as a project manager.
