Personal profile

Research and development areas

My research focuses on people's encounters with healthcare services and how person-centeredness is practised here. I am particularly interested in the significance of institutionalised frameworks and health professional logics, especially regarding including patients' experiences of handling life with illness. Additionally, I explore how people's unequal conditions, with a specific focus on marginalised groups, affect the interactions between professionals and patients and how these interactions impact how patients are understood and how they understand themselves.

Overall, I am interested in participation and involvement as both a research object and as a methodology. I primarily utilise ethnography and related qualitative methods, including observations, interviews and participatory approaches. I am a physiotherapist by background with years of clinical experience. I hold a Master's degree in Education and Health Promotion and a PhD in Social Sciences, Health and Society.
