Research and development areas

Matti Weisdorf is an anthropologist and lecturer whose research focuses on environmental ethics, human-environment relations, and the social dimensions of sustainability transitions.

His work explores how concepts such as nature, environment, climate changes shape moral imagination, public participation, and questions of social justice. Drawing on anthropological perspectives, he examines the relationships between humans, non-humans, and changing environments.

Weisdorf has contributed to research on renewable energy development and citizen participation through the COMON project, and on the ethical dimensions of nature restoration through the CARNAL project. His PhD research investigated environmental engagement and knowledge practices among field biologists in Denmark.

From 2013 to 2015, he conducted research on disability, recognition, and hope among war-injured veterans in Sri Lanka.

He holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Copenhagen and specializes in qualitative research methods, including ethnographic fieldwork, interviews, participant observation, and anthropological analysis. He has extensive experience in research design, project management, and research communication.
