Research and development areas

As a teacher and educational researcher, I am associated with VIA's Center for Studies of Professions as a research leader. I am particularly interested in transformations of the way we practice and think about professions and education – especially primary school. I am concerned with the field of opportunity that exists for practitioners and researchers to create valuable changes in practice. Changes that lead to better living conditions for children and young people at school, and which at the same time respond to the challenges we as humans face in a world characterized by major crises such as war and climate change.

As a research manager, I work among other things on the Green Transition of Education and Educational Technology (GreenEdTech) project, where we develop, test and research teaching and learning designs that will promote the skills of secondary school students to contribute to the sustainability challenges of the future. The project is supported by the Danish Innovation Fund and runs until autumn 2026.

Methodologically, I am inspired by ethnography. I am working on a further development of intentional ethnography – a method that balances between a reflexive focused ethnography and Design Based Research. As a member of VIA's research ethics committee, I am concerned with the relationship between research ethics and methodological issues.

I have a background as a Danish teacher and teacher educator. In recent times, I have become interested in entrepreneurship didactics and entrepreneurial learning, which for me draws threads to experience-based learning with a focus on interdisciplinarity, meaningfulness and authenticity.
