Research and development areas

My research and development focus is on the pedagogical use of digital technology and construction processes in education. My work is taking place in the framework of education in public schools (K 12) and in Teacher Education at VIA University College. In these two contexts I have studied teachers' use of design thinking procedures and scenario-based settings in their organization and scaffolding. As a result, I have published the article: Anslaget som afsæt for designprocessen - den didaktiske setting i første fase af en designproces (Lembcke & Pilgaard, 2018).

I am a makerspace coordinator at campus VIA Silkeborg and as such, I have participated in the danish FabLab-movement in schools since the very beginning. As a result, I have edited an anthology about the pedagogical principes of the danish FabLab@SCHOOLdk-movement by presenting and reflecting on best practice-cases from the classroom: Lærer under designprocesser - digital fabrication and design process in FabLabs (Lembcke & Schultz, (eds.), 2020).

On a national scale, Technology Comprehension as a new school subject matter is being tested in danish schools for the experiment period from 2019 till 2021. Many of the pedagogical findings from the FabLab-movement can be relevant in the building of the new subject. In my work, I have set focus on technology and computational skills, seeing computational thinking as a core competency. As a result, I have managed the project ULTRA:BIT CLASSROOM  kursus for lærerstuderende ved professionshøjskolerne (Lembcke, Jensen, Hjorth og Philipps, 2020).

My present occupation is about the investigating the pedagogical use of digital technology in language teaching. A group of researchers from VIA LIT in cooperation with researchers form VIA Language and Literacy are performing the first phase of the project: Language Teaching and Digital Technology 2020-2022, The Danish National Centre for Foreign Languages (NCFF).
