Profile
My research domain is people’s trust towards artificial intelligence. My PhD - The Role of Trust in Facilitating Human-AI Relationships - argues that we should consider our interaction with AI as more or less on the same lines as our relationships to people, when we have to trust them, rely on them, depend on them during parts or periods of our lives or to perform certain tasks. I am developing a profile in the use of AI in social care – and its implications on front line workers’ professionalism, citizens’ vulnerability, as well as aspects of societal risk and agency apparent in AI’s design and use.
Topics
Topics that I am interested in or have worked with include:
- How AI mediates patient-doctor trust relationships
- The influence of gender on users’ perception of task specific AI assistants
- Organizational approaches to implementing trust-informed AI
The experience gained from these projects I am applying to understand:
- The role of context in Danish Municipalities trustworthy implementation of AI technologies
- User involvement in Danish Municipal AI projects
- Development of didactic tools to teach social care profession about trust and AI
Methods
My perspective can be summarized out from the following key literature:
- Interaction between structure and agency. The morphogenetic properties of social systems (Margaret Archer, 1997)
- The role of categories in conceptualization of social practices and their influence on AI work, laws and standards (Bowker & Star, 1999)
- The analysis of technology narratives by disrupting context to understand what real language is used to describe trust in AI (Dunne & Raby, 2014)
- Finally, the work done by Hardin (2002), Karen Cook and Oliver Schilke (2021) on developing theoretical frameworks for trust and trustworthiness
Summary
I am very interested in collaboration with partners in Danish social care praxis and with other researchers in the Danish University Colleges network. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
