Hypothesis: A systematic teaching of the principles of reflexive writing, can contribute to enhance the students' reflexive competence.
The project's research questions are:
To what extent can teaching reflective writing strengthen the students' reflexive competence?
Methods: Based on insights from the scientific work on 'Improving reflective writing in higher education' (Ryan 2011*), the project has developed a teaching design for reflective writing.
The project has tested the teaching design in reflective writing on two groups of students at The TV and Media Production Studies (TVM) and The Media Production and Management Studies (MPL) in connection with their work with their internship reports. Thus, the project's case is the teaching of writing internship reports at TVM and MPL.
After testing the teaching design, the project will partly analyze internship reports written before the teaching in reflective writing and partly analyze internship reports written after the teaching. The analysis will focus on the written products' contemplation of reflexive competence.
Results: Based on the results from analyzing the internship reports before and after the implementation of the teaching in reflexive writing, the project will discuss to what extent the developed teaching design in reflexive writing can be said to be important for enhancing the students' reflexive competence.
The project will result in a proposal for how, teaching can contribute to the enhancement of reflexive competence, through development, testing and analysis of the effects of a teaching design with focus on reflective writing.
